New Extensions and Refurbisment of Grade 2 List Building
Main Contractor : – Willmott Dixon
Project Value £7.5million
As part of a £7.5 million investment, the new building would be connected to Greestone Centre, formerly occupied by the University of Lincoln’s art department, by a glazed corridor.
The new two and three-storey building will replace the current workshop on site, which will add more tuition rooms and accommodation.
The new steel-framed building required excavation of 2,500 m3 of spoil to form a partial basement. It is clad in Ancaster Limestone sourced Grantham, with a roof divided into seven seperate slopes.
The works included straddling the new extension over the ancient Roman city wall & working around an ancient burial ground
There will be extremely limited extra parking added on site and extra landscaping.
The new college would serve students aged 14-19 with an interest in engineering and science, offering full courses and apprenticeships at local businesses.
The courses are developed through a partnership of Lincoln College, University of Lincoln and Siemens Lincoln.
The existing grade 2 listed building formed part of the refurbishment element of the project
