Questions to ask when looking for an estimating service.

Our first point to consider would be to ensure that everything you receive back is clear and concise, easy to communicate with you customer, and clear for you.

Has the estimator added your markup? Are all labour and material costs included? Is it straight forward? Think about what situation you would be in, if you were unable to talk your customer through everything. Would a colleague be able to?

  • Please ensure that all floor plans and elevation drawings are recognised to a metric scale i.e. 1:50 or 1:100
  • Make sure you know how detailed the breakdown is going to be. This will avoid disappointment.
  • Are material costs and labour costs being monitored consistently?
  • Does this freelance estimator or estimating service have referrals they can put in your direction?
